I am Yvonne Kuennen, an award winning metal clay artist, with years of experience and education, both as a teacher and student. My degree from the University of Michigan was in Art Education with a double major in Philosophy and I went on to pursue an MFA from Eastern Michigan in metalwork. I have Certifications from both Rio Grande and PMCC in precious metal clay. I teach students of all ages and abilities and teach locally at the Breckenridge Arts District , Snowy Peaks High School, Arts Alive Backroom Classroom, my home studio, Rocky Mountain Bead Society Bead Fest at the Merchandise Mart in Denver and I hope to organize a series of workshops in Ireland.
I have a trademarked zipper jewel made with fine silver and bronze charms, handblown glass beads, pendants, rings and small sculptures which I market to local galleries in Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Frisco, Georgetown, Denver and Santa Fe, NM.
A graphic arts background, as well as publishing and printing in Ann Arbor, Michigan, morphed into an interest in writing and computer graphics. Having produced art for print in the ‘old school’ methods of typesetting machines and room size stat cameras, I am loving my computer transition on my MacBook Pro and learning to translate those hard won skills.
