BRECKENRIDGE – APRIL 9, 2015 – Breckenridge Arts District
As Education Outreach Director for the SCAC (Summit County Arts Council) and member of ARTS ALIVE! Co-op Art Gallery at La Cima Mall, I have spent the last three years helping to develop a program to teach art to the underserved in our community. The artists in the gallery take turns teaching classes to our local alternative high school, scout troops, adult day care group, and at the BOEC (Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center) to a brain injured group.
This year the Wounded Warriors Family Adventures is bringing eleven families to Breckenridge for skiing, snowboarding, skating, counseling and Art Therapy in early April for a week. I will be teaching a class to a few of these families who chose the art therapy on their “day off.” We will make charms and pendants in precious metal clay. I am honored to be able to be a part of this and with the backing of the SCAC and the Wounded Warriors Family Adventures we will be able to have a thorough and fun day with metal clay alchemy.
